Microblading | combo brow | ombre brow aftercare

Microblading post-care and Semi-permanent makeup post-care is very important to the appearance and lastingness of your eyebrows.

Please read the following eyebrow aftercare carefully as they apply to all of our eyebrows treatments: Microblading, Powder Brows, and Combo Brows.

EYEBROW AFTERCARE:

  • Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure.

  • Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath.

  • Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post procedure. Avoid picking or scratching as it can pull off scabs prematurely and cause patchy results or scarring. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear.

  • After 4 days, make sure your hands are completely clean and gently apply the post-care ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands. This can be done twice a day, at night time and morning time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Apply the ointment for 7 days.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING FOR 14 DAYS AFTER THE BROW PROCEDURE:

  • Increased sweating (sweaty workouts)
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot Yoga, Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals, they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment (Yes it can remove pigment if you pick off the scabs!)
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  • Airborne debris environments until your brows are healed
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact Brow & Co MicroArtistry immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER YOUR EYEBROW SESSION

  • The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle.

  • The pigment will appear very unnatural looking immediately after the procedure. The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next day.

  • Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than the original. This might give you the impression that color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients may have more fading in some areas which make the brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That's the reason why most clients need a touchup after 6 weeks.

  • Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.  The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.

  • Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.

  • Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun.  Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.

  • When using foundation, avoid the area of your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.

You can now enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows.

MCA NEEDLING TREATMENT AFTERCARE

Immediately after your needling procedure, do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation and repair.
After your procedure, your practitioner may apply a serum or moisturizing balm/cream, and sunscreen before you leave.  Only apply aftercare recommended or provided by the practitioner.

DAY 1

After 6 hours, you can use the recommended aftercare cleanser and moisturizer.  Be careful only to dab the skin gently and not rub it.

DAY 2-13

Within two (2) days following your needling procedure, you will start to notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, you may apply the recommended skin balm.Days later, your skin will start shedding. These are skin layers that would regularly shed a week later, but the Needling brings this skin to the surface sooner. During this temporary process, your skin will shed and be dry. You scars / stretch marks will look darker as they heal.  How long this darkness lasts depends on many healing factors such as age, lifestyle, following aftercare, and if you are prone to hyperpigmentation.

Day 14-40

Your skin will start to look like it is going back to normal usually.  Of course, results may vary from patient to patient. Scar treatment may be performed at a deeper level and a little more aggressively, meaning it can take longer to heal.  Wait approximately 6 weeks before having another treatment. Do not touch or disturb the treated area for 2 weeks after scar treatment, except to apply aftercare products. Wash hands before applying any products.

Day 60+

If you are prone to hyperpigmentation: After 60 days if your pigmentation still looks dark, you can use a lightening serum to help.  Should you require prescription strength lightening formulas, please contact your doctor or search online for a company that is able to prescribe stronger hydroquinone formulas.

Lip tattoo/blushing aftercare

Permanent Lip Makeup Aftercare

Your lips will feel swollen immediately after the treatment and remain swollen for the first day. You can use ice packs in first day if necessary to help bring the swelling down.

If you are planning to donate blood, it is a Red Cross policy that you must wait for at least 1 year after any tattooing procedure.

Try to avoid the sun for the first few days. (Open wounds and sunburn is just not fun)

Don’t forget to apply POWERFUL SUNSCREEN ON YOUR LIPS to avoid hyper pigmentation

Avoid any lotions or soaps containing GLYCOLIC, HYDROXY, FRUIT ACIDS.

Do not rub or pick your lips!!!!! It can cause infection and pull the color off. The lips need to heal for 6-8 weeks for better color retention.

Try not to eat any salty, oily,  or spicy food for the first several days (Talk about ouch! Literally adding salt and spice to an open wound!!)

Avoid kissing for up to 7 days.

EYELINER aftercare

Keep the area moist with Vitamin A&D ointment constantly for 7-10 days at least 3 to 5 times per day with a Q-Tip. (Please avoid applying ointment with fingers since it will wipe away the colors on the procedure areas.)

If you have oily skin, please use Vitamin A&D only for one day.

Do NOT touch the procedure area for 3 days and do NOT wash your face with water for 2 days. (If you want to clean your face, please use baby wipes or a clean wet napkin gently over your face and procedure area.)

After procedure is done, please avoid showering for the next two days if needing to keep hair clean we can definitely commend you to use dry shampoo for your hair.

No swimming, sweating, exercise or direct sunlight for 7-10 days.

  • Avoid sunlight for the first week by wearing hats and sunglasses when outside.
  • During the second week, you can apply sunscreen over the face. Except over the procedure area.

Try your best to sleep on your back for 7 – 10 days

Please do not wear makeup over the procedure area for the next 7-10 days.
